Cancer patient shares experiences online

After finding a lack of options for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer, a rare form of the disease that affects around 2,600 Canadians per year, Joanne Meyer decided to fight back.
Initially diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer in Sept. 2007, she has battled two more recurrences despite being allergic to chemotherapy.
"(When) you're diagnosed, there's an extremely sharp drop off in survival, then there's a few hopefuls," said Meyer, a former investment banker in Montreal who moved to London in 2008. "That's the kind of story you're told right from the get-go. That's the mood … it's an uphill battle."
